2025 SPRING OPEN HOUSE
The Da Vinci Video Game Design Club held its first-ever Open House at the end of the spring semester, celebrating an exciting season of creativity and collaboration. Students were awarded trophies, and guests had the chance to play finalized, semi-polished video games designed by the club members, including the flagship group project Duck Ship and the fast-paced survival game Lev’s Zombies. Attendees also enjoyed a variety of 2D games such as Mission Solve, Orb Rush, Rapid Refill, Donut Dash, 8-ball Fall, and Target Buster Station. The event carried a fun arcade theme, complete with a pizza party where guests received tokens they could cash in for snacks and drinks. Players who completed video game objectives won fantastic prizes, including the Coffee Time board game designed locally in Davis.
We want to congratulate the following Da Vinci students for their contributions to the club this spring—whether they stayed for the entire semester or just attended a single session, every student made a difference by contributing assets: Germán, Jael, Lev, Chris, Gonzalo, Jared, Cedar, Isaiah, and Orion. A huge thank you also goes out to Nick Domke for providing custom-made video game design music for every student project this semester. And the biggest shoutout of all to Judy Wong-Chen and Aaron Wedra for founding the Da Vinci Video Game Design Club and giving students the support, inspiration, and resources to begin their journey toward becoming legitimate game developers.
